I've spent my whole life around small businesses, starting with the one my father built from scratch. Since then, I’ve founded, invested and sold several more.
I’ve sweated payroll. I’ve had key managers poached. I’ve had to fire family members. I’ve dealt with vendors, customers, the city, and the bank—all while canceling vacations and losing sleep. I know what juggling a business really means.

I'm not an MBA or a finance guy. I learned business by running one in the trenches. I learned the numbers so I could stop running in circles.
What I learned is that the most powerful edge in business—and it isn't even close—is an owner who knows a few of their simple numbers cold. Not a bloated report packet, complex analysis or their tax return. Just the right numbers. The problem? They’re buried under a thousand that don’t really matter.

I live in Liberty Hill, Texas with my wife and two young daughters. When I'm not diving into client numbers and business plans, I'm probably traveling with family, playing golf or pickleball, reading, listening to music or volunteering.
